A WoW Token turns gold into 30 days of game time or Battle.net balance. Everyone knows it costs “a lot of gold”, but nobody tells you the number that matters: how many hours you’ll actually spend farming for one. So I worked it out from real runs players have recorded on Gold Cloud. With the best farm on the site today, a token is about 34 hours of farming in the US and 49 hours in the EU. Here’s how that works out, and how to get there faster.

What a WoW Token costs right now
On 11 October 2026 the WoW Token was selling for:
- US: 287,490 gold
- EU: 410,285 gold
Players who buy one from the in-game Shop pay $20 in the US, €20 in the EU or £17 in the UK, then sell it on the auction house for gold. Blizzard moves the gold price up and down with supply and demand, so it changes through the day. EU tokens have cost far more gold than US ones for a long time. That’s why everything below is split by region. I’ll update these prices every month.
For comparison, players on the Blizzard forums remember tokens costing around 110,000 gold, then 180,000 to 200,000 gold a couple of years later. The price has only gone one way, so the farm you pick matters more than ever.
Hours of farming per token
I took the five farms on Gold Cloud with the highest average gold per hour and divided the token price by each one. The gold per hour comes from real runs players have recorded (raw gold plus what the loot sells for), not guesses.
| Farm | Avg gold/hr | Hours per token (US) | Hours per token (EU) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tuskar Jerky | 8,424g | 34 hours | 49 hours |
| Swamp of Sorrows Fishing | 7,561g | 38 hours | 54 hours |
| Brackenhide Hollow | 6,421g | 45 hours | 64 hours |
| Crucible of Storms | 4,845g | 59 hours | 85 hours |
| Neltharus | 4,603g | 62 hours | 89 hours |
Prices from 11 October 2026. Gold per hour from Gold Cloud runs on the same date.
To keep a subscription going with tokens alone, the best farm needs a bit over an hour a day in the US, or about an hour and a half a day in the EU. That’s if you do nothing else. Drop to a 4,500g/hr farm and it’s closer to two hours a day in the US and three in the EU.
Those numbers don’t include the time it takes to sell your loot, or the auction house’s 5% cut. Treat them as the least time you’ll spend, not the most.

These are the top five farms right now. Live gold per hour from every recorded run:
| # | Farm | Avg gold/hr | Avg time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tuskar Jerky | 8,424g | 5m 30s |
| 2 | Swamp of Sorrows Fishing | 7,561g | 17 min |
| 3 | Brackenhide Hollow | 6,421g | 3m 37s |
| 4 | Crucible of Storms | 4,845g | 4 min |
| 5 | Neltharus | 4,603g | 7 min |
The table updates every time someone records a new run, so it may already be different from mine. Some of these farms only have one or two runs so far, and every new run makes the numbers more accurate. If you farm any of them, add your run and help everyone plan better.
Pick the wrong farm and the hours explode
Here’s the same sum for a farm near the bottom of the list. On the Blizzard forums, someone asked whether you could earn a token in 24 hours. The answer was not without “an ungodly amount of Embersilk”. They weren’t wrong. Embersilk Cloth is recording about 360 gold an hour on Gold Cloud right now. At that rate a token takes:
- About 800 hours in the US
- About 1,140 hours in the EU
That’s more than twenty times longer than Tuskar Jerky for the same reward. The gap between a good farm and a bad one is the biggest thing you control, which is exactly why Gold Cloud compares farms by gold per hour.

What one token looks like in real life
Gold YouTuber Pathalerix runs a “GoldBound” challenge: you start in one zone with no gold, and you can only unlock the next zone by earning a WoW Token there. It has become popular enough that fans built an addon to track it.
One player who did it in Elwynn Forest, the human starting zone, needed about 5 days of /played time (roughly 121 hours), as Icy Veins reported. They finished at level 41 with 332,000 gold from more than 22,000 auction house sales, and one lucky rare drop sold for over 86,000 gold on its own.
That’s what a token costs when you’re stuck with low-level content. It’s also why the farms in the table above, at 34 to 62 hours, are such a big step up.

Is it worth it?
That’s up to you, and it depends on why you’re farming. Here are the plain numbers:
- In the US, a $20 token for 34 hours of farming means each hour is worth about 59 cents of game time.
- In the EU, €20 for 49 hours means each hour is worth about 41 cents.
Some players on the Blizzard forums say farming for a token feels like a second job, and that “play to pay” can burn you out. Others enjoy farming for its own sake, and getting free game time out of it is a bonus. If you like learning a route and watching your gold per hour climb, the token is a nice goal to aim for. If you don’t, the hours above tell you what you’re signing up for.

The fastest way to your first token
- Compare gold per hour, not gold per run. A big run that takes 25 minutes can earn less than a small one you repeat every four minutes. That’s why every farm on Gold Cloud shows gold per hour.
- Farm what sells. Items people use all the time, like Tuskar Jerky and popular fish, sell quickly. Gold that’s stuck in your bags doesn’t count. Tuskar Jerky needs no professions either, so any character can farm it.
- Use short dungeon farms. Brackenhide Hollow averages under four minutes a run. Fast runs mean less time walking and more time looting.
- Know the instance limit. You can enter 10 instances an hour, so plan dungeon farms around it, or alternate with an open-world farm.
- Don’t flood the auction house. Selling 2,000 of something at once drops the price. Sell in batches.
- Time your runs. Your real gold per hour might be very different from what you expect. The best gold farming addons track it for you.

Help work out the real number
Every number in this guide comes from runs that players have recorded on Gold Cloud, and every new run makes it more accurate. If you’ve got a farm that beats 8,424 gold an hour, I want to see it.
Create a free account and submit your run. Your name goes on every run you record. If you’re the first to run a farm, it goes on the farm itself. And the first 50 members get a permanent Founding Farmer badge on their profile, so now’s the time to grab one.

Or just browse the farm list, sort by gold per hour, and pick the one that gets you to your token fastest.
